What is a cultural group? |
We automatically assume that culture is based on national identity, but our gender, generation, urbanisation, education, and sexuality are just a handful of the contributing influences. Participants would be encouraged to take part in a short activity to highlight the range of diversity. Objective: To increase awareness of cultural identities across society. |
|
Being in a minority |
Participants share their own experiences of a time when they were in a minority. Objective: To encourage people to understand the feelings that may arise from being in a minority and to examine their own responses to individuals in these circumstances. |
|
Stereotypes |
Participants highlight and examine a range of stereotypes which are commonly applied to a variety of diverse groups. Objective: To encourage participants to understand how stereotypes arise and be more aware how such stereotypes influence our behaviour. |
|
Cultural values and attitudes to the working environment |
Our cultural values will influence the way we respond to factors such as hierarchy, rules and regulations and time management. Objective: To increase awareness of what may sometimes appear to be non-standard behaviour. |
